Bordentown is a city that is located within Burlington County in the state of New Jersey. The city was originally incorporated as a borough by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on December 9, 1825, but it was then reincorporated as a city on April 3, 1867.

The first person that settled in Bordentown was Thomas Farnsworth and his family in 1682. However the city was named after Joseph Borden, who arrived in the area in 1717. He founded a transportation system that took both people and freight between New York City and Philadelphia.

Currently in Downtown Bordentown, there are many different stores and restaurants for people to visit. Many of the stores offer specialty items and there are plenty of consignment stores that sell vintage clothes.

Every August the stores have a huge summer sidewalk sale and people can shop while listening to live music. Many of the restaurants serve Italian food, but people can also find American, Chinese, Old World and many other types of cuisine.

There are ten different places to worship in Bordentown, so people of almost every denomination have a place to go.

During the summer, people are able to visit multiple shops and restaurants as they “Tour the World” in Bordentown. After they get their “passports” stamped at every location, they are entered to win gift certificates to the local businesses.

Every year the city hosts the Bordentown City Street Fair in the month of May. The event is held for two days in the heart of the city and everyone enjoys the crafts, boutiques, food and music. Farnsworth Avenue is almost completely filled with festival fun as are most of the major side streets.

The community really enjoys celebrating together and there are plenty of events that happen throughout the year to encourage the celebrations.

The Friends Meeting House holds many events including the Historical Society Blueberry Social and the Annual Peach Social. Every adult loves the Bordentown City Brew Tasting and the Taste of Bordentown, while chocolate lovers count down the days until the Annual Holiday Chocolate Walk every year.

With so much action happening in the area, it is no wonder why people love living in Bordentown. It is a real place where people come together and truly get to know one another.
